April Fools!

As is the tradition on April Fools day all big sites do something funny and this year there have been some greats! Here is a quick list of some our personal favourites:

• BBCs Flying Penguins!
• YouTube rick rolling everyone
• Google goes to outer space, and Tux makes a new friend
• WoWs new hero class - The Bard
• Gmail's time travelling emails
• New WoW expansion pack - Molton Core
• Search the future with Google Austrialia
• PirateBay moves offices
• Scratch and Sniff ebooks from Google
• Techcrunch to sue Facebook for $25million

Homage to some of the past greats

• In 1957 the BBC reported on the bumper annual spaghetti harvest on the current affairs programme Panorama (see the wikipedia entry on Spaghetti trees!)
• Last year Facebook added a special feature “LivePoke”, where they claimed they would actually send a real person to go poke your friends
• In 2006 SlashDot changed their site design, to pink with ponies!
• eBay joined in the fun and had items such as Flying Carpets, Your Face on Mt. Rushmore and Happiness up for sale
• NASA posted a picture of the “First Space Quidditch Match” on their Astronomy Picture of the Day website
• Newsround website claims the planets of the Solar system will be renamed after characters from The Lord of the Rings - Earth will be named Gandalf
